Bobbin Lace Gallery

Koronki Klockowej Gallery - a permanent historical exhibition devoted to bobbin lace, located in the Center of Culture and Promotion of the Bobowa Commune, which is located in Bobowa, in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship.

Bobowa is the main Polish center of bobbin lace production. The methodology of its weaving was imported to Poland from Italy and Belgium: Genoa, Milan and Bruges. In Bobowa, this art developed from the 16th century onwards. In 1899, the National Lace School was established in the city. Her students won a bronze medal in 1902 at an exhibition in Saint Louis and in 1905 a gold medal in San Francisco. From 1949, the Koronka-Bobowa Labor Cooperative (now its headquarters is located in Jankowa) dealt with the development of lace-making and the sale of its products. In 1995, the Association of Regional Creativity was established in the city to protect the unique lace-making art from disappearing. Since 2000, the International Bobowa Lace Festival has been organized in Bobowa.

The chamber collects mainly works of Bobowa lace makers, including napkins, tablecloths, and elements of clothing, as well as exhibits related to the creation of bobbin lace outside Poland. Beautiful, unique works of Bobowa lace makers, incl. napkins, tablecloths, and even items of clothing can be seen in the Koronki Klockowa Gallery at the permanent historical exhibition. Everyone who visits the bobbin lace exhibition will not consider the time spent there as lost.
