Following the trail of the Lemko Orthodox churches and more ...
Lemkos - "Among the Carpathian Waters" refers to the historical part of the Lemkos in the Podkarpacie and Lesser Poland provinces. They are shrouded in mystery: they spoke the Ukrainian dialect, professed Eastern rites of Christianity, they were completely dispersed and displaced from the areas where they had lived for centuries. Their traditions were marked by history and had their own specificity or design. The core is getting to know the mysterious people to whom the light of Carpathian fires will lead, living in harmony with the rhythm of the seasons and church holidays.
The theme of the tour is to get to know how the Lemkos lived, their religion, temples, and whether they worked. Open-air museums, churches, horse stables, mountains and health resorts.
The dominant senses are: sight (churches, chyże, crosses and chapels unique and characteristic only for the Lemko region), but also touch (related to materials, stone and wood) and smell (herbs). This means that those traveling along the trail will experience the magic of the Lemko world, its symbols and spirituality enchanted in temples, folk patterns, food and drinks as well as local products.
