Kamenná Baba and Kanion Lačnov

The whole area is extremely rich in natural beauty and it is no wonder that it is one of the most beautiful and interesting in Eastern Slovakia. It is located near the villages of Lipovce and Lačnov

Deep gorge (gloss. Lačnovský Kaňon), together with its surroundings, carved by Lačnovský stream in the north-eastern part of the band Branisko, approx. 1 km west of the center of the village Lipovce belongs to rezrwatu Kamenna Baba. The lowest point of the reserve is the lower mouth of the Lačnov gorge (approx. 560 m above sea level), while the highest point is the peak of Červena Skala (875 m above sea level) .

Gorge Lačnovski (Lačnovský Kaňon) has a wall with steep slopes, reaching that a 100 m high, and their peripheral edges are in rock formations original shapes, eg. 60 m high Mojžišová STLP, Kamenná Baba ridge Červenej rock chimney Skalné Vrátnice window . There are rapids and waterfalls on the creek flowing through the Lačnov gorge .

The guides showing individual rock forms tell numerous legends related to their shape. Resembling a woman with a child in her arms, Kamenna Baba is said to be a petrified stepmother who intended to throw her little stepson off the rocks of the gorge, for which she was turned to stone.

The entire gorge, approx. 2 km long, is sometimes called the Little Slovak Paradise, in reference to the original Slovak Paradise - a karst area around the gorge, carved by the Hornad River south of Spiska Nowa Wieś.
