The market square in Krosno is a vast rectangular square measuring 115 x 72 m. Around it, there are historic tenement houses from various periods, rebuilt and modernized many times. Some of the tenement houses have arcaded arcades, which gives the city a unique atmosphere. The arcades of tenement houses and the Market Square used to be used as commercial places. In the years 1999-2000 in the market square in Krosno, archaeological research was carried out, which revealed elements of the former municipal infrastructure, such as waterworks, merchant stalls, wells, sewers, and the remains of two magnificent buildings: the vogt's house and the Renaissance town hall. The outline of both buildings is marked in the market square with red brick. The most interesting tenement houses are located in the south-eastern part of the market square. The original layout of the plots of land on which the tenement houses were built has been preserved here. These plots of land and tenement houses are larger than others in other parts of the market because they belonged to richer owners. On the west side of the Market Square, there is a fountain resembling a flower. The streams of the fountain have effective illumination that changes over time. The fountain is called papal because it was launched on April 19, 2005, on the day of the election of Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger as pope. Under the historic roof of the former city well, there is a three-dimensional model of the historic bronze Krosno.
