Museum of Lemko Culture in Olchowiec.

The Museum of Lemko Culture in Olchowiec, or Historic Chyża, is a kind of ethnographic museum collecting objects of the culture of the local community and artifacts from the times of the battles of the First and Second World Wars.

The Lemko Culture Museum - otherwise the Historic Chyża - is reproduced on the example of one of the cottages built in the style of the so-called Western Lemkos, on the initiative of Tadeusz Kiełbasiński.

In 1939, as part of the land consolidation process in the village, it was moved to its current location, at the same time replacing some of the damaged elements.

An exhibition devoted to the Lemko culture was created there.

The entire exhibition was named Historic Lemko Chyża in Olchowiec. It consists of: a residential and farm building, residential equipment, a collection of miniature wooden Orthodox churches, an exhibition of Lemko costumes and an exhibition of agricultural equipment. An additional attraction of this place are the original military items left in these areas after the fights during World War II.

The historic old Chyża played an important role in the return of the tradition of organizing traditional Lemko kermesa in Olchowiec. Kermesze was associated with indulgences in the local church and was a kind of celebration of the local Lemko community, who put on their colorful costumes on this occasion and were happy to meet and trade with other people.
