Museum of Oil Industry and Ethnography in Libusza - private museum, located in the village of Libusza (Gorlice poviat). The facility is a project of Anna and Tadeusz Pabis, former employees of the oil industry.

Museum of Oil Industry and Ethnography in Libusza - private museum, located in the village of Libusza (Gorlice poviat). The facility is a project of Anna and Tadeusz Pabis, former employees of the oil industry.

The museum was established in 1977. Its exhibition consists of two sections:

  • oil industry, containing exhibits related to mining and oil processing in this area. The exhibits include, among others a kerosene distillery from 1856, a mine forge from the mid-19th century, shaft models from 1852-1939, ceramic kerosene gallons, numerous documents, maps, drilling tools and instruments, as well as uniforms. The exhibition is complemented by a collection of about 500 biographies of miners and oil workers,

  • ethnography, which presents old furniture, clothes, everyday objects, agricultural tools, technical monuments (phonograph, radios, sewing machines), paintings and other souvenirs.

The museum is a year-round facility, open on working days. Since 2000, a private Foundation for the Dissemination of the History of the Oil Industry in the Gorlice-Berecki Region has been operating at the museum, patronizing the institution and dealing with its promotion. The external exhibition shows the equipment with which oil was extracted not so long ago.
