Bardejów

The city is inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List

The charm of Bardejov is additionally enhanced by the fact that it is integrated into the beautiful surrounding landscape with lots of tourist attractions. On the south-eastern slope of the flysch massif Busowa lies the Bardejów Spa (Bardejovské kúpele) in a quiet valley of the Bardejowski Stream. Administratively, it belongs to Bardejov, being its district. In the upper part of the spa, there is the Folk Architecture Museum with 28 rural buildings from Šariš Górny and North Zemplín.

The monuments located in the historic center of the city are part of the municipal heritage reserve.
The central place of the historic city center is a rectangular market square built up with a series of old town tenement houses with typical gable facades with eaves.

In the middle of the square there is a former town hall from the beginning of the 16th century (1505 - 1509). In the building of the historic town hall there is an exhibition entitled "History of the city - a free royal city". On the square in building no. 27 there is another exhibition of the same museum, which shows the icons of northern Slovakia. The Museum's natural history exhibition can be seen in the tenement house No. 3-5 in the neighboring Rhódyho Street.

The most outstanding monument is the Roman Catholic Basilica Minor St. Egidius which is located in the northern part of the market. Its construction began at the beginning of the 15th century, gradually transforming it into a magnificent Gothic three-nave basilica. Extremely interesting monuments inside is a complex of 11 late gothic wing altars from the 15th and 16th centuries, with sculptures considered the most valuable in Europe.

The city's pride is also the Franciscan monastery with the church. The monastery is located near the city walls.
