The Lemkos are a national minority that once inhabited a large area of the Carpathians. However, the turmoil of history meant that they were completely scattered and displaced from the areas where they had lived for centuries. Today, the ancestors of the Lemkos revive beautiful traditions and the rich heritage of their ancestors. The symbol of this rebirth is the return of the Waters, that is, the tradition associated with burning fires in the mountains, during which, in the past, memories were sprung, a sense of community was built and traditions were recalled.
