Castle in Snina

The Classicist mansion in Snina was built in 1781 by Countess Terézia van Dernáth on the site of an original wooden building.

The Classicist manor house in Snina was built in 1781 by Countess Terézia van Dernáth on the site of an original wooden building. She was the granddaughter of the last male descendant of the Druget family. The famous noble family ruled Snina from the 14th century. The countess started building a beautiful manor house, but did not live to see it. The city of Snina became the owner of the manor on October 27, 2009. In November 2011, a complete renovation of the national cultural monument began. On the occasion of the 1150th anniversary of the arrival of St. Cyril and Methodius On 5 July 2013, the reconstructed manor house, which houses museum exhibitions, gallery exhibitions and the city library, was officially opened. The Ozven Snina exhibition is definitely worth visiting. It contains echoes of the period before and after the construction of the manor house in the Rholl era and examples of the historic furnishings of the manor from the 19th century. Currently, the ground floor houses the Ozvena Snina museum exhibition and the city library, while on the first floor there is social rooms and a gallery section used for cultural and artistic activities.
