Museum of Ruthenian Culture in Prešov.

The Museum of Russian Culture is the youngest museum in Slovakia, established on January 1, 2007, with a nationwide coverage. This documentary, research and methodological studio focuses on the history and culture of the Ruthenian ethnic group in Slovakia.

NM - The Museum of Ruthenian Culture in Prešov, on the basis of research and scientific research, collects, protects, professionally processes, makes available to the public and evaluates evidence of the material and spiritual existence and activity of the Ruthenian population. It focuses on museum documentation of the development of science, culture, art and technology in Slovakia, as well as on facts about the Ruthenian population living abroad (past and present emigration), which means that it is being created as one of the international consultations focused on a compact area inhabited by Ruthenians.

The museum has developed a concept of publishing activities aimed at documenting the testimonies and memory of the still alive monuments from various spheres of life of the Ruthenian minority in Slovakia. Occasionally, if it is financially possible, it will prepare and publish a collection of works by authors dealing with the issues of Ruthenian nationality and multicultural relations, as well as the socio-cultural realities typical of Slovakia, which, together with other countries, is part of a globalizing human society, be it in Europe, or in the world.

The effort of museum staff consists in the gradual preparation of a multilingual catalog of acquired exhibits, paying due attention to promotional materials, trying to obtain funds for the museum from various sources (including international ones) and preparation of other activities for the museum.

On the ground floor of the museum there are temporary exhibitions - mainly exhibitions of young artists of Ruthenian origin. On the first floor, themed rooms have been arranged, showing, among others, the interior of a typical Ruthenian hut, the interior of a Ruthenian church, a collection of liturgical objects, both Greek Catholic and Orthodox, miniatures of Ruthenian churches.
