Museum of the Society of Jesus of the Southern Poland Province.

Museum of the Society of Jesus of the Southern Poland Province in Stara Wieś, a museum founded by the Jesuits, mainly of sacred art. In December 1968, a sixteenth-century painting in the Old Town church was burnt down in a fire. In 1972, a copy of this painting was crowned and a charred fragment of the original painting became the nucleus of a museum. At the beginning, the Museum was a kind of "memory room" gathering about 300 various objects related to the local monastery and the missionary work of Polish Jesuits. At the beginning of the 90s, the care of the collections was delegated to specialists, which allowed for the creation of a professional collection and museum exhibition.

The museum has a collection of sacred art and artistic crafts from the 16th-20th centuries, showing both the spirituality and aesthetic culture of the Jesuits. At the permanent exhibition, you can admire the rich collections of oil paintings, sculptures, goldsmiths and artistic handicrafts - both domestic and European - as well as a significant collection of liturgical vestments. The museum is proud of: the oldest dated copy of the Miraculous Image of Our Lady of Częstochowa, painted by Franciszek Śniadecki in 1613, as well as memorabilia related to the great figures of the Church, including: St. Francis de Hieronimo, St. Robert Bellarmine, Saint Józef Sebastian Pelczar, Blessed Jan Beyzym, Servant of God Wojciech Baudiss, or the Popes: Pius VI, Pius IX and John Paul II, and Reverend Piotr Skarga, Archbishop Ignacy Raczyński, Card. Adam Kozłowiecki, Fr. Władysław Gurgacz. The museum halls also exhibit ethnographic and exotic collections. The latter is related to the missionary work of Polish Jesuits in Africa, Asia, Australia and Oceania, and in the Americas. The collections from Africa and Asia, which are a continuation of the collections started at the beginning of the 20th century, deserve special attention. The museum also boasts over a hundred Christmas nativity scenes from all continents. The oldest of them are over a hundred years old.
