Museum of Ukrainian Culture

SNM - Museum of Ukrainian Culture in Świdnik, the oldest one that specializes in the National Museum nationwide, deals with documentation of the basic stages of cultural, historical and socio-economic development of Ukrainians in Slovakia.

Slovak National Museum - The Museum of Ukrainian Culture in Świdnik is the oldest national specialist museum with a nationwide scope. It deals with the documentation of the development of Ukrainian society in Slovakia in terms of cultural, historical and socio-economic aspects.

The museum has three departments: the Main Department, where there is an exhibition on cultural and historical topics, an open-air museum and the Gallery of Dezider Millyho.

The museum deals with, among others scientific activities, it also takes part in many international projects, mainly in the area of researching traditional folk culture in the Carpathians and adjacent areas. The three-story exhibition on an area of 1,700 m2 offers visitors a brief description of the natural and historical living conditions in the region, as well as an overview of the history of the settlement, economy, state administration, social, national and cultural development of the Ukrainian ethnic group from the earliest times to the present day. It presents the area of north-eastern Slovakia with an emphasis on the development of inter-ethnic relations in the period from the Neolithic to the 1980s.
