Museum Zemplinske Hamre

The museum in Zemplínsk ich Hámr ach is situated in the so-called murovanicy - the oldest building in the commune from the 19th century, which originally housed an ironworks. From the mid-nineteenth century, the building served as an inn, belonging to Matyas Wieszberger.

The museum presents two permanent exhibitions. An exhibition presenting the history of mining and craftsmanship in the Vihorlat hills and an ethnographic exhibition presenting folk architecture, agriculture, crafts and folk costumes of the inhabitants of the Josefsthal settlement. Separate exhibitions are located in other facilities of the Hámor Educational Trail - in the main building of Hámor (Forge) there is an exhibition of blacksmithing and quarries , and in the replica of the adit at the foot of the quarry - an exhibition of mining activities.

In the attic of the museum there is also an exhibition hall for short-term exhibitions and an education room, where interactive teaching is offered throughout the school year , focusing on history, ethnography, positive cultural heritage and environmental education. These classes are intended for school groups .
