Nikifor Museum

The paintings in the museum have been selected and arranged in such a way as to display the most valuable works in terms of art, to present at the same time all periods of Nikifor's work, the techniques he used and the thematic cycles characteristic of his painting.

M uzeum Nikifor is located in a historic wooden villa "Romanówka", typical of nineteenth-century health resorts. The facility was located until 1990 at ul. Piłsudski was demolished and, after a conservation renovation in 1992-1994, it was recreated in a new place in the city center at Dietla Boulevard.

The paintings in the museum have been selected and arranged in such a way as to display the most valuable works in terms of art, to present at the same time all periods of Nikifor's work, the techniques he used and the thematic cycles characteristic of his painting.

The oldest, even unique works, probably from the period of World War I, include: "Triple Self-Portrait" and the multi-picture composition "Healing the Sick", as well as military scenes.

From the 1920s and 1930s, considered to be the best period of the artist's work, there are watercolor scenes in the interiors of churches and churches, kitchens, offices and posts, banks and dollar factories, mountain landscapes with churches and churches, railway stations and stations, self-portraits, fantastic architecture . Among the works from the years after the Second World War, there are banners with saints drawn with crayons, gouaches with city architecture, pencil sketches, guesthouses and villas in Krynica.

The artist's photographic portraits were made by Marian Włosiński, Nikifor's legal guardian in the last years of his life.

The paintings at the exhibition come from the collections of the District Museum in Nowy Sącz.

The Nikifor Museum is closed on Mondays, after holidays, the first and second days of Easter, Corpus Christi and January 1, January 6, November 1, 25 and 26 December.
