Open-air museum of the oil industry Magdalena

The open-air museum was opened on May 31, 2012, on the site of the former "Magdalena" oil mine, one of the numerous facilities of this type that were located in this area (including the "Jantas", "Zawisza", "Zawodzie" mines). In the area of Magdalena - Ropica Polska, from 1931 to 2000, approximately 110 wells were drilled and approximately 310,000 tonnes of crude oil were produced from the deposit. From 1956, more shafts were attached to "Magdalena" , incl. mines in Szymbark , including "Bystrzyca", "Śląsk" and "Lasek".

In the open-air museum you can see tools, devices, documents and photos related to the history of oil extraction in Poland, especially in the Gorlice Oil Industry Basin. The dominant feature of the complex is the drilling tower from the reconstructed "Ćwiartka" excavation from before 1880, from which you can see the panorama of the Low Beskids . As part of the exhibition, a reconstruction of the rock oil outflow , which was collected in the so-called bęsiorach or catchers and collected by the so-called bastards . Other valuable exhibits include a drill forge, a manual "Granik" type device used to exploit crude oil through the so-called buckets, "Glinik" type pump treadmill , boiler and steam pump , Vorthington and Trauzl piston pumps for oil manipulation and pumping, individual pumping crane, JL-1 "Rudno" processing elevator with a tripod for borehole processing and tool ramps with a set of drilling tools, instrumentation or processing. A collection of bottles with types of crude oil from various boreholes in Podkarpacie, differing in color, transparency and density, is valuable.
