Sninsky Kamen

Sniński Kamień (1006 m) is a volcanic mountain peak, which is located in the Wyhorlat range. The Sniński Stone lies within the Wyhorlat Protected Landscape Area.

Sniński Stone (1006 m) is a volcanic mountain peak, which is located in the Vyhorlat range. This peak is made of andesites. It is a remnant of a volcanic lava stream that poured from the former volcano into the old valley, and then, as a result of crumbling of the surrounding rocks (mainly volcanic tuffs), remained as if separated. The top of the summit consists of two rocky crags with flat tops, which are raised 15 - 20 m above the surrounding ground and separated by a saddle. We distinguish here the smaller and higher Mały Sniński Stone (1006 m above sea level) and the larger and lower Wielki Sniński Stone (998 m above sea level). Ladders lead to these peaks. From the peaks, you can beautifully see the panorama of the Wyhorlat, Bieszczady, Tokajsko-Slańskie Mountains and the East-Slovak Lowlands.

There is a crossroads of several hiking trails on the Sniński Stone (and more precisely in a switch at the foot of the aforementioned summit crags).

Sniński Kamień is located within the Wyhorlat Protected Landscape Area. The rocks on the top are a natural monument called Sninské Kamieň.
