Solivar in Prešov is a national cultural monument and one of the most important technical monuments in Slovakia. It is a unique set of technical facilities for pumping and boiling salt from brine, dating from the 17th century. The rock salt mining and brine pumping facilities in Solivar include, in particular, the Leopold shaft, the main salt warehouse, brine graduation towers and the so-called A clapper, i.e. a tower with an alarm bell.

The salt was transported from the brewery to the warehouse on rails in small wooden carts. The salt warehouse in its original form was completed around 1825. In fact, it was the most architecturally impressive building in the complex. It burned down on May 18, 1986. The unique wooden truss structure burned down.

In 2016, NKP Solivar put into use a public building - a salt warehouse, which fell into disrepair after a fire in 1986. It no longer serves its original purpose - salt storage and distribution, but becomes an interesting functional space with many uses. The reconstructed building houses the largest historically rare central room, which leads to individual rooms - the former salt chambers. They are divided into a museum, congress and utility part, intended for offices, catering and hygiene rooms. The storage tower, dominated by a working clock and bell, was also restored.

The area of the salt works "Starý Solivar" from the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries has been preserved as a unique technical monument, which has no competition in the field of technical monuments of a similar type in Slovakia.
