St. Michael the Archangel in Polany

St. Michael the Archangel in Polany - a former Greek Catholic church, built in 1820 in Polany. Currently, it is a branch church of the Roman Catholic parish of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Berest.

The present church was built in 1820 on the site of the previous one from 1667. After 1947 it was taken over and used by the Roman Catholic Parish of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Berest. The temple was renovated, among others, in 1862, 1900, 1960 and in the years 1983-1985. In 2000, the iconostasis was renovated. It is a three-part structure with rooms on a square plan. A sacristy adjoins the chancel, which is narrower than the nave, from the north. A tower with sloping walls, with an apparent boarded chapel topped with a domed cupola with an apparent lantern. Similar finials of the turrets above the nave and the chancel, all ending with crosses, each in a different shape. In the basement of the tower there is a vestibule surrounded by huts. Abutment gable roofs with different ridge heights covered with sheet metal. Shingled walls.

The interior is covered with flat faceted ceilings. An overhung musical choir with paintings on the windowsill. Architectural and figural polychrome from the construction period. The furnishings include a complete iconostasis from the 19th century with a painted canopy, a late-baroque main altar with a painting of Piet from the 18th century in the presbytery, two side altars in the northern aisle with a painting of Pokrow and a southern aisle with elements of an older iconostasis, a baroque pulpit from 1700 and a polychrome deacon pew.

The church is surrounded by a high stone fence made of field stone with a chapel and a shingle roof.
