Stara Lubovna open-air museum

The open-air museum of folk architecture in the town of Stara Ľubovňa was founded in 1956 at the foot of a hill crowned by the mighty ruins of the Ľubovňa castle. The open-air museum houses wooden architecture from the Ruthenian culture

Open-air museum in Stara Lubovna - an open-air museum of folk architecture in the city of Ľubovňa , founded in 1956 in the eastern part of Slovakia. . The area of the open-air museum has been developed in such a way that it resembles a village of Carpathian highlanders, although individual objects represent different areas of eastern Slovakia. The ticket office is located in a modern brick building on the right side of the path that leads to the open-air museum. In addition to admission tickets, you can buy souvenirs from the open-air museum there.

Among the exhibited monuments we can find:

  • Greek Catholic Church of St. st. Michael the Archangel from Matysová, wooden from 1833.

  • A three-part log house from the village of Velky Lipnik , built in 1922.

  • Seasonal clearing buildings from Litmanova

  • Sypaniec (granary) from Veľka Lesna in Zamagur Spiski

  • House of a wealthy farmer - village head from Veľka Lesna from 1909.

  • The house of a shepherd from Litmanowa from 1921.

  • A peasant farm from Údola from the first half of the 20th century (house, stable, barn and granary)

  • A family house from Údola from 1947 with an exhibition showing the interior of the school

  • Carpentry shop (built like the original from 1928) with workshop equipment

  • The house from Jarabin ( Jarzębin ), a log house on a high stone foundation, from 1930.

  • A residential house from Jakubiany from 1938.

  • A farm building from Ruska Wola from 1945 with an exhibition of ceiling beams

  • A residential house from Kremna from the beginning of the 20th century.

  • A farm of a landless peasant from Kamienka from the 19th century.

  • St. Józef (a copy of the object from 1730 from the Nests )

  • Bartolomeja forge Sekeráka of Torysy , from the nineteenth century.

  • A mill from Sulin with rich technical equipment

Visiting the open-air museum can be combined with visiting the Lubownia castle - the castle + open-air museum package ticket is only EUR 1 more expensive than the ticket to the castle.

There is a private paid car park next to the open-air museum, there is also a small seasonal bar with coffee, cooling drinks, biscuits and snacks next to the car park. There is also a souvenir kiosk in high season.
