Stone Baba Reserve. Kamenna baba

Reserve lies within the cadastral village Lipovce, with spaces hips picturesque deep gorge (gloss. Lačnovský Kaňon), together with its surroundings, carved by Lačnovský stream in the north-eastern part of the band Branisko, approx. 1 km west of the center of the village Lipovce. The lowest point of the reserve is the lower mouth of the Lačnov gorge (approx. 560 m above sea level), while the highest point is the peak of Červena Skala (875 m above sea level) .

B femoral reserve area is limestone and dolomite middle and upper Triassic with distinct forms of relief karst. Its central part is the Lačnov Gorge ( Lačnovský kaňon ) with steep walls, 100 m high, on the banks of which there are rock formations with original shapes, such as the 60 m high Mojžišov stľp , Kamenná baba in the ridge of Červena Rock, Komín , Skalné Vrátnice window . There are rapids and waterfalls on the creek flowing through the Lačnov gorge .

The area of the reserve is partly covered with forest patches of various densities, in which there are European beech, scots pine and Norway spruce , and as an admixture of silver fir and European larch . Various groups of rich vegetation are preserved on the limestone and dolomite rocks. On the sunny rocks and shelves, we can observe a number of dry and thermophilic species, and on the exposed surfaces species characteristic of warm forest steps. Numerous mountain species, relics from the Ice Age , can be found on the shadowy walls, in the cool places of the gorge's depths and on damp mounds . The characteristic plant species found in the reserve include: white sedge , reed grasshopper , marsh sesleria , Carpathian bellflower , alpine clematis , and the primrose gypsophila on the rock shelves .

These groups are accompanied by specific elements of fauna, especially invertebrates . The rare brittle snail ( Balea perversa ) is worth mentioning. Among the avifauna, the presence of a wall mural is especially valuable.
