Zamagurie
Hear us

Linguistic diversity was associated with the multi-ethnicity of the region, which developed from the 11th and 12th centuries. The languages spoken in the region belong to the Indo-European and Finno-Ugric groups. The Slavic, Germanic and Romance languages were represented from the Indo-European group, and Hungarian from the Finno-Ugric group.

The language used in Zamagurze is the Slovak language, also known as the highlander dialect, specifically Spiska - a dialect of Polish, Slovak and Ruthenian, considered a separate language that is very close to the early language of the Western Slavs.
