Dolinianie (Dolinians)

Rituals and ceremonies.

After the baby was born , neighbors and relatives came to the haunts. They were bringing cloths for the baby. When there was a lot of poverty, chops with milk (dumplings with milk) were brought so that the mother would have food. For baptism, the child was dressed in a feather bundle, which was made by the mother from the quilt, which she had previously received in the wake. Mother did not go to baptism only kumas. To this day, the habit of haunts has remained in several places (Pisarowce, Nowosielce, Długie). Today, money is mainly brought as a gift for a newborn baby.
Before the wedding ceremony took place, first there were collusion, then spasms, then engagement and walking on the wolf. The older bridesmaid and the young girl walked on the "wolf". People dressed in festive clothes, with a bunch of flowers in their hair and covered with a black scarf with fringes, walked around the village. The path was carrying sackcloth for grain, the blessing was asked for those who were not asked for the wedding, and grain was poured into the sack. For the wedding, matchmakers set a dowry, which had to include: a cow, a wardrobe, a duvet, two or four headboards, and a field. Local bands, most often family orchestras, played at weddings. Mainly sandwiches were eaten, and for dinner the richer family served stews. The moonshine was served to drink. Alcohol was served and guarded by the so-called "Smoke maker". The old wedding traditions have not survived to this day. Today it only refers in some way to the preparation of the so-called home-made food. It is usually a separate table with regional cold cuts, homemade cheese or alcohol.

Funeral customs. The death of the householder was a frequent occurrence, therefore everyone was aware of this sad event. The body was kept at home for three days. During this time, the dead were watched and prayers were said. There were no flowers by the coffin, only lighted candles. Usually the entire village attended the funeral. Regardless of whether someone was angry with the deceased before or not. The grave was prepared in the ground, a wooden cross was placed, sometimes a metal cross was made at the blacksmith's. Today, funeral rites are held in chapels. To this day, there are very few rituals referring to earlier family traditions in the area in question, they are no longer of any great importance.
The organization of the festivities does not follow the old tradition.
