Łemkowie (Lemkos)

In connection with the development of the tourism industry in the region, the number of music groups that try to perform folk or folklore songs, originating from the Lemko region, is also increasing. Priority is undoubtedly due to the "Osławiany" Song and Dance Ensemble from Mokre , whose members are local indigenous people. Their repertoire includes ritual songs, songs and dances from Lemkos, Boykos and Rusnaks from Slovakia and Transcarpathia. In the nearby Komańcza, there is a Lemko singing group called “Łem My” , presenting the culture of its ancestors. Another very interesting initiative is the Polish-Ukrainian female band "Widymo" from Sanok , led by Marianna Jara, which performs Lemko, Boyko, Polish, Ukrainian, Slovak, Rusyn and Romani songs. Marianna Jara also conducts the diocesan choir in Sanok.
Other teams working in the Carpathian mountains, which are inspired by the traditions of Lemko are Tołhaje and Angrla Gaber Trio .
The group Tołhaje was founded in 2000 on the initiative of two musicians Damian Kurasz and Janusz Demkowicz. The team draws inspiration from, among others from the tradition of Boyko and Lemkos as well as from the Lublin region and ethnic groups of today's Ukraine.
Angela Gaber and her band combine folk with alternative music, creating contemporary arrangements of traditional Carpathian songs. He collaborates with Matragona, Tolhaji and Vidym.

The Lemko bands also include:

Serencza - a Lemko folk band, formed in Gorlice in 1997 and

The Lemkowyna - Szymbark ensemble - a dance group, band, choir founded by Jarosław Trochanowski in 1969.
