Two religions, two Christmas celebrations

The region in which the Dolinians lived was at the junction of two religions: the Western Roman Catholic Church and the Eastern Greek Catholic Church. The clash of these two religions was marked both in religious customs, culture and religious buildings (churches and orthodox churches). Most of the Dolinians were followers of the Eastern rite. Their openness allowed them to marry with followers of other religions, and mutual respect and understanding resulted in weaving and permeating religious rites. Due to the fact that the Julian (Greek Catholics) calendar is shifted forward 13 days in relation to the Gregorian (Catholics) calendar, the holidays were often celebrated twice.
