Different elements, one religion

Pogorzanie, unlike the neighboring ethnic groups, were Roman Catholic. Initially, when German settlers came to the areas of the Carpathian Foothills, some of them were Protestants or Calvinists. However, it was the Catholic immigrants who assimilated the fastest and thus created, together with the Poles living in these areas, a homogeneous community, which for centuries followed the same religion, lived in harmony and dynamically developed economically. Wooden churches in Pogórze are among the most beautiful monuments of the heritage of wooden architecture. The gems of Pogórze churches are: Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary and St. Michael the Archangel in Haczów, built around 1459 and Church of All Saints in Blizne, built around 1470.
