The centuries-old interaction of various cultures, lively contacts with Slovaks and Hungarians, as well as the proximity of important communication and trade routes running through the Carpathian passes connecting the north and south of Europe, contributed to the rich and diverse culture of the Pogórzans. The common feature for this ethnographic group is ethnic (Polish) homogeneity, the Polish language and the Roman Catholic religion. (...)

The Pogórzans spoke Polish. According to Fr. Władysław Sarna at the end of the 19th century, peasants in the eastern part of the Krosno poviat spoke Polish correctly, their pronunciation was clear. On the border of the counties of Krosno and Jasło, you could hear the so-called masonry.
